Bonnie Blue Utah Gathering 2003
I met Bonnie Blue when she first arrived at the Idaho Gathering. Sometime after the 4th, when she was telling me about her bliss, she said, "I'm Bonnie, but I'm no longer blue."
I've always been confused by the "blue" reference. In the mountains where I live, after a long storm, blue is the color of hope. It heralds the coming of the warm sun. Maybe in the South where The Blues comes from, the sun is not so welcome.
This song also peers at the yin and yang of our emotions as a positive part of our growth and well-being.
But it is also a tribute to a sister who simply glowed with warmth, compassion and generosity, and I know she is sharing the gift of the Rainbow far and wide in her subtle and kind way.
Nari was sitting by my toes coloring when I was playing with this song asking folks what their favorite color is. The music was but a back drop to the true free artist in the child before us who graces our sacred circle.
The music means the most to me when it's reflected off you.
