I was at the co-op yesterday too! We had to stay home today due to the lousy weather (no car!) And I have to go back tomorrow to buy kale, since the cabbage worms ate most of mine! Story hour for a 20 month old? Well, there is a group for 6-24 months on Wednesdays at 11:15. There's also one for 2-3 year olds on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30. Technically, my daughter should be in that group since she's still 3, but we could never make it because I had to get my son on the school bus, so we go to the 4&5 year old group. There's also Pajama Time for all ages Tuesdays at 7PM, and Music Together for all ages Mondays at 7PM and Tuesdays at 10:30. You should also check out the Early Literacy Center (in the same room they use for story hour) it's got lots of nice toys (different every day because they rotate them.) It's a great place to let the kiddoes play when it's too hot or too cold to play outside, which seems to be most of the year here in Ohio! You can get the hours for that at the library or on their web site www.kentfreelibrary.org
Now, as for drum circles (story hour for grown-ups!)...we used to have one, back when I first moved here. It happened like once a month at the Standing Rock Gallery. Sadly, it was disbanded some time ago, due to lack of participation, I guess. I think it would be awesome to get one going again! Why don't you try making a flyer and hanging them around town, like at the co-op, outside the gallery, on campus, etc.? I'd be game!
Lastly, no, I'm not on Facebook...and never will be...I plan on being one of the last great hold-outs!
Welcome to Kent! We've been here since Oct. 2010. I'm downtown numerous times every week with the kids...the Natural Foods Co-op, story hour at the library, Tannery Park (next to the river), random festivals and such, you name it. I'll be there again tomorrow, too (weather permitting) for story hour at 1:30. Wild times!
I live in Kent, too! It's strange that we haven't met...or have we???
