I've now fulfilled my obligations of raising a family, am retired and am now ready to move on and get back to the mountains and the life I once led. Surprisingly, I have held fast to my values and beliefs of taking care of the planet and each other. I practice yoga daily and am a long time member of the Himalayan Institute in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I have spent several months there over the past 7 years and completely enjoy the people and community philosophy. The world at large unfortunately is not conducive to those things. I am hoping to make contacts and hopefully find a new place to settle where there are real people sharing nurturing philosophies. I am selling my home in the spring and planning to sever ties to this terrible place. The world at large has gotten so selfish untruthful and basically ugly. Living here on the East coast is slowly sapping my life energy. I have many skills and tools including farming, carpentry, Heating/ Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, music and being able to fix just about anything. In my heart of hearts I am hoping to find a community or an area where good counterculture people have gravitated, high in the mountains where I can live out my days among caring and compassionate people.
"I am surprised by how quiet this forum has become lately with no responses to your post. I would take a sleeping bag and tent as it is unlikely that you will find a place to spend the night. Not that many hitchhikers these days. Good luck!"
