because that really is just about what I had in mind ; I can see doing that at 8' then expand with a full stud wall latter on under it , leaving the hexayurt to be the loft floor above , storage sleeping area. But I was trying to come at this from the point of view that all you can afford is the 6 walls . and not much more , So then it was how to make and support a roof ? you'd have to have studs or cut poles for roof rafters , then put a tarp over it , to get you through one winter. how is the possiblity to get a hold of used rubber roofing ? Also : check out bill board signs , that is a strong material , they get made and used then discarded , sometimes they do use both sides but ,who cares it is a cover , that is water proof . Check out my comment to Morgan on the hub . I would like to come up with a idea that it is a pocket preformed that a stud or a cut pole can slide into that would give you the preset placement of your roof rafters by putting them into a gusset or hub like the spokes of a wheel . If you could pass that on maybe someone can pick up on it and figure that out then those could be premade ahead . Allowing you to have solid walls but a tarp roof , or plastic , until you can get a real roof built , out of plywood . I do not know what is possible to do . worst case you'll have to build two hip roofs back to back . When I think of something I think no money and how do I do this in the wilderness w/o power , with an ax a few nails and a hammer. I have used just an ax and just a roll of bailing twine , and covered with a tarp for a roof. I have way to much work a head of me before the ground freezes up . Mtn.Bear.
Good job of defining your goal and issues to overcome, bro. We're all thinking in terms of relatively sophisticated resources generally available now.
This sounds like something that will provoke some thought as it seems those will be real issues for all of us soon enough.
Excellent job, excellent delivery, Michael!
Thank you for all who needed that.
