I am a hospice caregiver. I take care of people with terminal illnesses and help them re-birth into a new life. The dying need people to care for them and care about them, rather than being left forgotten and alone in corporate-owned clinical warehouses.
BTW, there's about five rafting cos there. Salidas hot springs are not very far away.
Hey family. I got a work camping job in colopaxi, co at the koa and motel there on the Arkansas river this summer. Maybe family can visit and teach me some fly fishing skills.
Hi Pretender
Yeah, it was a good run. Trying to keep it going but it is a bit more effort these days....LOL
Hello,
I live in an area that has canoe concessions, and it is so eat up with bureaucratic legalisms that it takes a fortune just to get started. You would have to buy someones business and grandfathered rights to make a go of it. It is sad that opportunity minded folks are locked out from simple business ventures. To bootleg running canoes or float trips down a river is problematic as well. But you can invite folks to go down the river with you and maybe they will offer a gift to you for your endeavor to share your experience with them. I have a standing offer for folks to enjoy the river, close by me, with either canoe, kayak, tube or just swimming, but no one has taken me up on it. I figure it cost me between one a two hundred dollars just to do a simple three hour float. With the economy like it is today it is so difficult for folks to take the day off work and enjoy God's marvelous creation. For those who would be interested in a winter float here in the Ozarks of MO just drop me a line.

Hey Bro
No way that this is out of line, no way. Actually I think it is a good subject to talk about as many rainbows could use ideas on making a living in this day and age, especially with the economy as fractured as it is. Good to read you're setting up in an area that you love too. When you love what ya do, you never work a day in your life.
Right now, due to medical issues, I am getting by, barely, on SSI. When I was holding down a "regular" job, I worked in Mental Health/ Human Services and it was something I truly loved, trying to help chase off people's demons, as I knew what that was like to have them in your life. After 27 years, I started my own business, doing traditional Native crafts and beadwork. I did that for close to 15 yrs until my stroke cut down my abilities to do the fine work. I still dabble in crafts and always will, as it is a big part of my soul.
