...i'd luv to see a photo of the '61 Falcon- here's a new one of the '94 vw mk3- just had the water pump/timing belt -replaced-she's at 82,000 so this is the most important preventative maintenance for these 2.0 engines- new platinum plugs- - the car has a quiet and reserved thrust for sure- the woman I purchased it from really babied it- she was an editor for Car & Driver magazine- so she was very passionate about the car- just installed ceramic pads on the front- one new wheel bearing -driver's front- tightened a loose ball joint- - decided to give the car a good running start chance at another 80 K hopefully-  still had the roof rack and -top carrier from the old '96-  nice to re-use them again- I'll be living in this back of the car- took the seat out- tuck the bike on one side- and me on the other- with the guitar- throw down the sleeping cushions- and nice low profile - live-aboard-  ready to rock & stroll~! Heading to N.C> - maiden voyage Blue Ridge Mtns- & Parkway- that's why I luv stick shifts~!  Enjoy the Drive~!

Thanks, B-I. Its just past its third birthday at 68k and the 7th Honda in the personal fleet if you found the lawn mower. 1999 CRZ still runs like a top, not a drop of oil under her. Before Hondas, we toured in the peoples car, '69 bug, '73 Super Beetle and graduated to a '73 914 2.0. We won't mention the '61 Ford Falcon or '67 Renault Dauphine before I discovered VWs.

back online- the Love Mechanics is alive~!   well- the ole' vw jetta 96 made it to 98000 miles- and shut down - with no spark- i called the salvager- the Polar vortex claimed one more- 6 months later- I had to wait for the feel good vibe to strike- and found a 94 jetta mk3- The legend continues~!

...with 82,000 original miles- all documented- by the original owner- even though this particular car is 2 years older than the '96- making 20 years old today- it's in better over-all condition due to the fact that it was garage kept most of it's life-

that makes a difference, for sure- no rusted out brake lines on this baby- but I still have fond memories of the old blue '96- and gave it a fitting cross country tour last summer- East to West and back again- attended the Montana National-  Oregon Country Fair 2013-  Asheville, N.C. Bele Chere festival-  ...explored Mt. Shasta in the Trinity National Forest- saw my 1st mountain lion-

...went through some CA wild fires- had a (in-car fire- from the hot wire radiator fan to the fuse box) i promptly put the flames out- without melting the fuses~! lol~! had to be quick- car- survived- kept on rolling- but a severe rain storm really knocked me down - i should not have forced the car to drive through it- car didn't die there- but was forevermore effected- made it back to N.C. did a final tour of the Smoky Mountains with my brother- and toured Asheville, N.C -

and back to MI-

july 2014- just outfitted the new '94 silver jetta mk3 with roof rack- and $1000 of master mechanic preventative auto work- the '94  has 82000  miles- so went ahead and replaced the timing belt- water pump- etc with a kit- front brakes- a wheel bearing  and a ball joint- tuned her up with fresh platinum spark plugs- got her purring like a kitten- Wow~! finally a non- mickey moused VW- really appreciating german engineering and impeccable steering right now~!

I don't know why it should be closed? Re-name it maybe, drive some interest... I have a bike, which relates, and I'm into steampunk, planning to get a house truck of some kind to trick out and a geek for gadgets, gears and environmental friendly upgrade info... I vote, let's bring it back alive... stat   heh heh  :)
