Ed, there is so much in activities, teachers, and resources. All the parents bring something to the circle. It's like a potluck of kid stuff. In new Mexico, they had a life size chess set. There's lots of crafts, music and social interaction. And like the adults, the kids also learn to get along in a peaceful environment. A gift they also can bring home to share.

Kid village focuses on the family's wholesome, clean and safe environment. Parents can learn so much too by sharing parenting skills and wisdom. It's an exercise in peace. it's for the kids, so why leave them out?

Hi Winterdeep, I know other people here know more about KV than me, but they do have filtered water, but having yourself covered doesn't hurt since personal filters are so handy. I think a good tent, clothes and bedding. I know KV has a diaper station, so you can go all cloth. It's actually less to pack in and out. I know others can contribute, especially since I'm not a mom yet, but those are some good ideas I think.

It's been 16 years since I took my daughter to a gathering. Now I'm taking her back and also my one year old. My daughter was the easiest baby, but my little man is wild. What special stuff should I bring for him? Special considerations I might not have thought of? For diapering I was thinking cloth diaper shells with the g diaper biodegradable inserts. He's on both solids and the boob. Personal water filtration? I always just boiled in the old days. A leash?! ;p

My children need constant attention. I'm not sure if I could do it at a Gathering. Their Mother would never come... I didn't spend a lot of time near Kiddie Village at this years Nationals. What do Parents typically do with the kids for fun and learning?

really important, this is a very real SHANTI SENA call for help that I am forwarding on

For forty years this family has gathered and to the best of my knowledge we've never lost anyone.  Let's make sure Marie doesn't stay lost.  If she's alive, all her family needs from her is a phone call.  If Marie is deceased, her family wants her body back so they can grieve and bury her.

Marie came to the gathering with Cathy and Mellow. She was last seen on the morning of July 7th.

For photos of Marie, Cathy and Mellow and the rest of the time line on how she went missing, visit http://washingtongathering.blogspot.com/2011/08/can-you-help-find-out-what-happened-to.html

Please forward this information to your email lists, posts on any Rainbow related discussion groups, share on Facebook, bring to your local potluck/drum circle so family who is not online gets this information.

Love,
Karin

100s of pounds of food is stuck on Oklahoma City and needs to be picked up to be delivered to Washington Gathering.  if anyone can help.  there are 30 banana boxes and 60 - 5 gallon buckets plus a lot of frozen meat... it all needs transporting.

contact person in OKC is Red Woman   at   405-606-9103  or  405-842-3109

please let Me or Laurie Starfire know if anyone can help with this so we can stop scrambling.

:-) that does sound like a good morning :-) The weather outside is 86 with a slight breeze coming from the coast. Took a ride up into the foothills below Tahoe and hiked around with my wife. Was amazing and refreshing. then on the drive home we got to see the purple flowers that are covering the grassy fields. I love this time of year:-) Going to take the kids out this week after school. They should have a good time. They are already asking to go  camping again. :-)

Glad I could help.  When my daughter was small, I had no support system, and I had to muddle through on my own. I think we all need to stick together.

It didn't help that her father would make me look worse in her eyes, to the point that it was O.K. to lie to me and disrespect me.  She's 15 now, living with him on the other side of the country.  I've only seen her once in the last 3 years since she left.  I just pray that she'll understand as she grows up.
