Truth is, the EPA monitors your tap water; and is stricter than the agency that monitors your bottled water: FDA.

I'm not a fan of floridation and don't like the amounts of chlorine and chloramine (now added in most communities). Not sure how you get out flouride (haven't lived in a community that uses it), but chlorine dissipates with exposure to air; and chloramine with ascorbic acid. If you just don't trust tap water, or know yours is bad, filter it. Reverse osmosis filters are the best; and that's what the bottled water companies use. So if you filter your tap water, you will have EPA standard water, better or same quality that the bottled companies use, filtered exactly as they do.

I wonder if part of what we got used to was the convenience of a bottle of water close by. I, for one, am not crazy about the idea of bringing water fountains back, with today's diseases and outbreaks... unless they are re-designed for better sanitation as shared water source. But of course, the simplest solution is to carry your own reusable washable bottle.
