Hello brothers and sisters of the Rainbow,
I am planning on camping out for the whole summer and maybe spring as well and planting a large garden.
I was thinking maybe Montana along the Canadian border.
I am in the process of gathering the gear and seeds I will need.
I have a few veggie seeds and a couple of flower seeds as well; also a 2 man tent and a 2 room tent along with an extra tarp.
If anyone has ideas or know where I can get a external frame hiking pack or cheap portable camping tools or gear or would like to joing me on this exciting and freeing expedition I would like to hear from or have you join.
May peace, health, happiness and love be with you all in this perilous and cold world.

If you're going to garden I recommend reading Self-Sufficiency on 1/4 Acre by Brett Markham, since it's the most succinct guide to getting your garden to flourish. Also, I highly recommend the Israeli method of farming: in spring chop off the top layer of thatch/grass/weeds with a plow or hoe, throwing the thatch off to one side, rototill, water it completely and wait until the weeds come up, pull them all out, rototill again and rake out the weeds, add lots of manure and good compost if the soil needs it, a good sprinkling of fish meal, mound up the dirt in 1' tall by 2' wide by however-long-you-want rows, packing down the sides at an angle with the back of a shovel, and planting the seeds in the top of that. I've done this before and it worked pretty darned well.

Here is a place where we can share our ideas of self-sustainability. Whether it pertains to gardening, energy(solar, wind, water), construction(cob, straw bale, earth ships), permaculture...You get the IDEA...lets share it!
