Being Indian

"Being Indian is an attitude, a state of mind, a way of being in harmony with all things and all beings. It is allowing the heart to be the distributor of energy on this planet; to allow feelings and sensitivities to determine where energy goes; bringing aliveness up from the Earth and from the Sky, putting it in…

SMILE

A Smile costs nothing, but gives much

It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give

It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,

and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it

A Smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good…

MY ROSE by Mist

ONCE I SAW A FLOWER
BEAUTIFUL BEYOND DESCRIPTION
A ROSE OF SUCH DEEP COLORS
IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY
SO CAREFULLY I CHOSE THIS FLOWER
AND PLACED IT IN A GLASS
SO THE MEMORY WOULD ALWAYS LAST
EACH DAY I WATCHED IT OPEN
UNFOLD EACH PETAL FOR ME
THERE ON THE SHELF
DISPLAYED FOR ALL TO SEE
ALL OTHERS SAW WAS A FLOWER
LIKE A THOUSAND OTHER FLOWERS
THEY DIDN'T SEE HER TAME ME
THEY DIDN'T KNOW WE'D FALLEN IN LOVE

...I Celebrate You Grandmother...

There are many times in our lives that we consider life and death, and the mysteries they hold, but never more than when you know your losing a loved one. That is what I face now, as I prepare to take my mother, to see her mother, before she passes away. My…

2010 West Coast Regional

Here is a forwarded message regarding this year's West Coast Regional by Dwight "Whytefeather"

Howdy Folks.

Well after just getting back from a whirlwind "Circle Tour" from Arcata to SF up thru Shasta, on to Ashland, and back down to Brookings and Arcata, it's still late Winter as Phyl the Groundhog predicted. The Shasta-Weed area still looked more like the Tibetan Region at this time of year. However, Imbolc has…

The noblest intent

The noblest intent that a man might share

is giving honor unto others.

Bestowing with kindness, dignity that's due,

since all of mankind are your brothers.

Do not entertain anger within your self

or let malice have reign in your mind,

but be of good cheer and of a compassioned soul

and all of your spoken words be kind.

Let not others effect the way that you live,

but be true to the things of your heart.

Stand firm on those thoughts that you… Continue

GREEN EYES by MIST

THE GREENEST EYES
I'VE EVER SEEN
JUST WALKED IN AND SAID HI
MY HEART BEGAN TO RUN
TO JUMP TO SKIP TO SOAR TO FLY
BECAUSE OOOO THOSE EYES
AND OH THAT HAT
BUT THOSE TIGHT JEANS
WERE WHERE IT WAS AT
HIS BOOTS MATCHED HIS HAT
AND HIS SMILE MADE THINGS CLICK
BUT THOSE TIGHT JEANS
MADE MY HEART BEAT QUICK
HE WASN'T LOOKING FOR LOVE
AND NEITHER WAS I
THE GREENEST EYES
I'VE EVER SEEN
JUST WALKED IN
AND SAID HI

Lingering shadows

For the night that is done,

dreams disappear like mist.

Into shadow's they run

from sleeps lingering twists.

How many are the sprites

that haunt us in the dark,

and at dawn's early light

they go, leaving their mark?

They retire in secret

as we perform our day,

awaiting night's onset

and their chance to come play,

And when slumber arrives.

We lay our heads to sleep.

You'll see they do survive.

Back in our dreams they'll… Continue

man and nature

I walk through the field,
pups yelp their fearful alarm,
"mother, where are you?"

Coyote's low call,
"silence children, I am near,"
in awe I listen,

The next day, the road
takes the life of the mother,
poor coyote pups.

upon the horizon

Upon the horizon,

majestic mountains sing

of whispering white pines

and grand creatures of wing.

Wandering troupes of clouds

cast shadows in their path.

The suns radiant glow

gives our earth a warm bath.

The golden sheaths of wheat

yield gently to a breeze,

while cool running water

falls from an alpine freeze.

The earth, it breathes deeply

with harmonious swells.

Life giving sustenance

over hill and through… Continue

the telling of time

An occasion, where all time sat as one,

a question was put forth to them.

"Which of you, with your varied spans of life

know best, man and all his whims?"

First millennium, with his shaggy beard

rose up speaking of many years.

"Millions of men have I seen come and go,

multitudes of victories and fears."

"The wars they have fought, the things they have built,

stretching through the life of them all."

"Civilizations that rose to… Continue

trees

I like to see the trees in the park,

I like to see the trees in the yard,

I like to see the birds flying high,

with a place to rest from the sky,

I like to see the trees in the fall,

when winter comes to make her call,

beautiful colors blaze the trees,

something our earth gave us to see,

we need to…

in this caotic world we can still be islands of calm

IN this tribulation of times that we are experencing, we can rise above it if we see that most of it does not pretain to us. The money, power, posessions, and cruel behaviors that are expressed in this world, are troubling but we can survive if we do not let get into us. We have the choice of what we allow in us and to go through us and what we choose not to allow. Remember that what we hear and think, we speak. If we hear love for one another and think only good for our brothers and sisters…

I REMEMBER STILL by Mist

I saw him in the distance

just coming over the hill

it could have been just yesterday

for I remember still

my thumb was up

cars went by

I knew they'd stop

I needed a ride

there he came

all alone

on that bike

that was his home

we rode for quite a distance

more than a mile or two

but I never learned too much

about this biker Blue

then as quickly

as he rode in

he rode out of my life

with a softly spoken

it's been… Continue

THE PLAN by Mist

AS IF TOGETHER
YOU ACCEPTED A PLAN
CREATED BY SOMEONE
OTHER THAN MAN
YOU JUMPED YOU HELD ON
YOU HATED YOU FELL
HOPELESSLY LOST
SOMEWHERE IN HELL
YOU LIVED YOU LOVED
YOU LAUGHED YOU CRIED
AND WAITED FOR EVERYONE
ELSE TO DIE
THEN AND NOW
YOU THOUGHT WHAT YOU'D DONE
WOULD ONE DAY HELP
EVERYONE
NOW THE PROMISE IS TRUE
AND YOU'RE ALL ALIVE TOO ...
