Last summer on the third day of July, a quiet change occurred during the dinner circle at Kid Village. Felipe’, the principle focalizer at Kid Village for more time than some can remember, passed the sacred feather to Foxfire. One does not have to reach deep in the memory to appreciate how much Felipe’ has given to the children and families of our sacred community.
I heard someone once say about Felipe’, “That man can get more done from a chair then ten young brothers on their feet.” Some may consider this a conservative assessment. I do.
Foxfire has no illusions about the responsibilities he is undertaking. He has been a principle focalizer in Kid Village for many years. If you don’t see Foxfire helping to hang a tarp, it’s probably because he’s making a supply run or dragging water pipe.
Felipe calls Kid Village the “Heart of the Heart.” I can’t imagine anything more sacred than making a safe wholesome place for children and their families.
Kid Village is the perfect place for me to camp, because I know that whatever happens, it happens for the children. The children make my personal issues insignificant. I find that liberating.
I heard there is a cyber Magic Hat somewhere for contributions to help get the bus to next year’s gathering. If anyone knows or would like to manifest one, we can link it here.
Thanks to Felipe’ and Foxfire and all the folks who dedicate their gathering time to the children.
And Thanks to ScottieB for focalizing this virtual reflection of the greatest miracle of the Rainbow Gatherings.
