How to be Vegetarian/whole foods eating

I have met many new vegetarians that just stop eating meat but do not know HOW to eat differently. This is NOT a group to discuss the pros or cons of being or not being vegetarian. This is a space to share recipes and healthy eating.

@ Annie--- WTH, I'll try your  "hairy legs and patchouli scented hippie" flavored concoction... LMBO!!! That's hilarious! I'd be lying if I said I hadn't come up with a few of those myself! Ha!

A great way to season squash and zucchini is with an organic/vegan garden vegetable bouillon cube. I wash and slice the veggies into a glass baking dish, then crumble the cube on top and bake. The flavor is awesome! I also tried it the other night with some organic Carribean Jerk seasoning. Yummie!

Wow, RevNira, dear, that is one elaborate easter set-up.   Like you, I didn't want all the unhealthiness that goes with the easter baskets.  My simpler version was to fill my babes baskets with the first and exotic fresh fruits.  They got fresh organic strawberries, blood oranges... anything I could think of, find, that was special.  I did throw in some gourmet jellybeans and a chocolate bunny.  We took the colored eggs (done with jtangte tools or the homemade version: pencils, aluminum foil and a thumbtack) at a party at our house, a picnic lunch, and the baskets to the forest/desert... somewhere beautiful to celebrate equinox.  There, I hid the eggs and baskets; we had a relaxed and fun day.   Last year, my son took us hiking in one of the places we loved to celebrate our equinox... great memories!  I highly recommend picking your holidays to celebrate and creating something you and your children will love and pass on.  I bet your daughter can relate great stories from her easters with you, RevNira; and I hope she still does some of that really cool basket ritual.

Annie, I hope you just felt like Superwoman for hours after drinking that pineapple/hemp/spinachy stuff!  Some herbs that fix this type of situation include parsley, mints, anise... anything minty, or sweet; strong.

LMAO annie you are too funny. heres a spring equinox/ easter tip from an old hippie granny... omg i cant believe thats 'me' im pointing to... when my daughter was a wee lass in the 1980s....  i used to sprout wheat grass in a basket for easter (start 5- 7 days early but alfalfa perfoms in 2-3 in a pinch) and then we would juice it after we ate the chocolates (home made chocolate and peanut butter filled yellow chocducks and green coconut jellybean nests - i had a paint box of natural colorings i kept under lock and key like an artist would wtith oil paints made of real minerals and gems....)  im sure today we could be healthier if you do easter at all.  i once made a wheat grass altar - 7 long rectangle planters each with a votive lit in front of them- for a spring interfaith service where i wanted minimalism and no overt symbolisms.

http://www.rawliving.eu/kate-magic   here's a link for you darlings

and wheatgrass is far better  fresh juiced so cheap too to sprout and grow - fun for kids so get them involved in all sprouting projects-

annie you have a wonderful life and brilliant children too.
