Comment by TigerMike Is Pappyson on February 8, 2013 at 7:08pm There's free camping on the east side of Quartzsite, AZ 4 a week at a time then U just go to a local truck stop 4 a nite and start over. I don't think that there are any facilities though. and.... there is camping at Tonopah hot springs, about 30 miles west of Phoenix. Not sure of cost, or about pets.
Comment by Star Albright on February 1, 2013 at 6:18am More to Jennifer, If you are on the 40 and can deal with cold, and muddy roads, I have a place near Grand Canyon.
Comment by Star Albright on February 1, 2013 at 6:16am To Jennifer, We have tons of Nat Forest. Are you on 10 or 40? Still pretty frigid in the north. If on 10, just after getting into AZ there is the town of Bowie. About 20 miles north of Bowie is "Hot Wells Dunes" . One can camp there and theres the added benefit of 3$ hotsprings. Heading west, from Benson you can turn south to Tombstone and turn east on Middle March Road to go to Cochise Stronghold. 14 day camping here. Tucson will be quite busy the next three weeks because the Gem Show will be happening, and thats a great place to hang out but finding a campspot could be problematic. There is Catalina State Park in Oro Valley on Oracle Road. Don't know what it costs a night but there are showers there. North of Tucson in Oracle is "Peppersauce Canyon" off the Mount Lemmon Rd. Lots of big trees, and I see other folks up there with thier dogs. Give me a specific where you are shooting for, and I can probably tell you someplace nearby.
Comment by jennifer swinford on January 31, 2013 at 11:12am Where is the nearest location to find a spot for a camper? Me and hubby and two dogs and two cats traveling from Il, in Roswell now headed west
